Embrace Change in Your Routines

Routine restart

Welcome to 2025 and the first issue of Web Designer Habits!

You might notice something a little different immediately—starting this year, I’ve dropped “WP” from the title. Why? With the ongoing WordPress trademark drama, it felt like the right time to broaden the focus of this newsletter. While WordPress is still my foundation, the habits I share are meant to help all web designers, no matter their platform.

In 2025, I’ll revisit 36 core habits and introduce 16 new ones to help keep your business running smoothly. To kick off the year, I’m hosting a weekly Zoom Habit Lab throughout January. These 30-minute sessions allow us to work on habits together and stay accountable. I hope you’ll join me!

Starting Wednesday, January 8th at 7:30 AM PST, we’ll co-work on Zoom and focus on our habit of the week together. This meeting will be for 30 minutes and is meant to offer you some support and accountability as you tackle a new habit. I’ll share a link in week two!

Habit of the week:

Embrace Change in Your Routines

We don't know what 2025 has in store—especially for WordPress—but one thing is sure: change is constant. That's why building habits that keep us organized is important while we still need to leave room for flexibility.

When we get too rigid with our habits, we can start to feel stuck. Being adaptable allows us to pivot when needed and keep growing.

Why it matters:

The web industry evolves quickly—new tools, updates, and client needs can shift overnight. If your routines aren't flexible, you'll waste time fighting change instead of embracing it.

Routines are meant to help, not hold you back. Building habits that can grow and shift prepares you for whatever comes next.

Quick Start Guide:

  • Evaluate What's Working: Review your current routines and note which ones still serve you and don't.
  • Break Bad Habits: Identify routines that feel more like ruts. Start replacing them with habits that align with your goals.
  • Test Small Changes: Make one change at a time so it's easier to track progress and avoid overwhelm.
  • Track Progress: Keep a habit tracker to celebrate wins and identify areas for improvement.

Cami's Tips

  • Stay Open-Minded: Simply reminding yourself that “change is an opportunity” can make a big difference.
  • Read About Habits: Books like Atomic Habits by James Clear and The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg offer great insights. I revisit these often on Audible.
  • Reward Small Wins: Celebrate progress to keep your momentum going. It could be a star on your calendar or a piece of chocolate!
  • Don't Overthink It: Action beats perfection—start now and refine as you go. If it doesn't work, let it go!
  • Build Accountability: Share goals with a friend or join our weekly Habit Lab sessions to stay on track.

Routine Checkpoint:

Your habits should support growth—not limit it.

Take some time this week to evaluate your habits, good and bad. Are they keeping you organized, or are they holding you back? Adjust as needed and let's make 2025 a year of change.

What's Your Take?

What's one habit you're changing this year? I'd love to hear your thoughts—share them using #WebDesignerHabits!
