Wk32-Reconnect with Dormant Clients

Relationship Refresh

ice berg on body of water

Over the years, some of the clients I’ve worked with disappeared after the launch. Great people, great projects—but no ongoing care plan, no responses to my check-ins, and no outreach for any support along the way. This week’s habit is a nudge to check back in.

Habit of the week:

Wk32-Reconnect with Dormant Clients

Reach out to former clients you enjoyed working with but haven’t heard from in a while. This can include care plan clients that never open reports or reach out for support.

Why it matters:

Relationships are assets. Clients who had a good experience working with you may not realize they need ongoing support or that you offer additional services. And those who are already on care plans but never engage with updates might just need a more personal nudge.

This kind of reconnection can lead to:

  • New project opportunities
  • Renewed engagement in care plans
  • Referrals to others in their network

Plus, it’s a great way to prune your client list—if the idea of reconnecting with someone makes you cringe, that’s useful information, too.

Quick Start Guide:

  • Make a list of 5–10 past clients you genuinely enjoyed working with.
  • Over the next few weeks, send a quick, personalized check-in email: ask how things are going and mention that you noticed they haven’t opened recent reports or updates.
  • Include a gentle reminder of the value of care plans, or mention a service they might benefit from now.
  • Track your outreach in a spreadsheet to avoid double-messaging or forgetting follow-ups.

Cami's Tips

  • Skip clients who were difficult, slow to pay, or made you feel drained. You don’t owe them a re-entry into your business.
  • Make sure they haven't moved on from your design and if so, make sure  they aren't still using your premium licensing.
  • Use a spreadsheet to keep tabs on who you’ve contacted, what you offered, and when to follow up (if at all).
  • Don't send these check-ins all at once.  Drip them out over time.
  • This is also a good moment to prune your email list.

Routine Checkpoint:

Remember, your past clients are part of your business foundation. Reconnecting with the right ones can strengthen that base. Who could you reach out to this week?
