Gratitude Loop

I used to think referrals were just lucky breaks something that happened when you did a good job and hoped someone remembered. But over time, I realized most of my best clients came from a few key people who consistently mentioned my name. BNI played a huge role in shaping that understanding. When I started making a habit of thanking these referral partners, those relationships deepened and the referrals kept coming. This week, with Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s the perfect time to show some intentional gratitude.

Habit of the week:

Wk48-Thank Your Referral Partners

Identify the people who regularly send you leads and make a point to show appreciation. Whether it's a thoughtful note, a small gift, or a public shout-out, a little gratitude goes a long way in nurturing your referral network.

Why it matters:

Referral relationships aren't transactional they're built on trust. When someone recommends you, they're putting their own reputation on the line. Acknowledging that effort builds loyalty and keeps you top of mind. Plus, a strong referral network can bring in better clients than any cold outreach ever could.

Quick Start Guide:

  • Make a List: Write down everyone who has referred you a client in the last 6-12 months.
  • Send a Note: A handwritten thank-you card or a thoughtful email can make a big impression.
  • Give Public Credit: Mention them in a social post or tag them in a project launch.
  • Return the Favor: If possible, send a referral their way or share one of their offers with your audience.

Cami's Tips

  • Keep a running list of referrals in your CRM or spreadsheet. Add notes after each project.
  • Use tools like Postable or Handwrytten if writing physical cards feels like a hurdle.
  • Schedule a quarterly “Referral Check-in” to send thanks and updates to key partners.
  • If you're part of BNI or a local networking group, make recognition part of your weekly rhythm say thanks during meetings or follow up privately.

Routine Checkpoint:

Remember, this week is all about gratitude.

When is the last time you thanked someone for sending work your way? These small moments of appreciation often lead to stronger relationships and more referrals. Keep that loop of generosity alive.
