How Consistent Blogging Strengthens My Web Design Agency

Why a Regular Blog Schedule Matters for Web Agencies

Blogging has been a regular part of my online presence, and maintaining consistency has significantly impacted my business. When I started writing, it was a way to share insights from running my web design business or to educate clients. Over time, blogging evolved into a podcast, a newsletter, and this habit-focused blog.

What Worked Well

Planning my blog content helped me launch my Web Designer Habits blog in a single weekend. Since the beginning of the year, I have been jotting down notes and preparing to create a dedicated space for sharing lessons. Because I already had a regular blogging habit, I could act quickly and catch up without feeling overwhelmed.

Challenges: Wrangling Ideas

One of the hardest parts of blogging is organizing ideas. There are always too many potential topics; narrowing them down can be time-consuming. AI tools like ChatGPT have been a huge help in structuring my thoughts, but I always ensure that my content remains personal and reflects my real experiences.

A Surprising Benefit: Community and Growth

I never expected my blog to become the foundation of my online community, but that’s exactly what happened. First, I wrote blog posts about running my business and to educate my clients. Then, I turned those posts into podcast episodes. As I noticed recurring themes in my content, I started my habits newsletter. In my second year of focusing on habits, I’m expanding further with this blog to share my results. Blogging builds credibility.

Tools & Resources That Helped

  • ChatGPT – I use it to refine blog ideas but never write from scratch. (https://chatgpt.com/)
  • Google Docs & Spreadsheets – Essential for tracking my blog schedule and content planning.
  • Ann Handley’s Newsletter – One of my favorite resources for writing inspiration. (https://annhandley.com/newsletter/)

Lessons Learned

Writing regularly has given me more confidence as a business owner. It has helped me refine my messaging, showcase my expertise, and provide value to my clients beyond just web design.

Moving Forward

I’d love to increase my blogging frequency but also recognize my limits. For now, committing to one post per week on this habits blog is a great test.

How You Can Implement This Habit

Start by answering common client questions in your blog posts. You can reuse these posts as part of email templates, linking to them whenever a client asks a similar question. This saves time and positions you as an expert while keeping your blog content useful and relevant.
