Digital Calm

As web designers, we juggle a lot—client projects, admin work, creative thinking, and so much more. And when our digital space is a mess, it doesn’t just slow us down—it clutters our thinking, too. A clean workspace and a tidy computer go a long way toward helping you focus and feel more in control.

Habit of the week:

Declutter Your Digital Space

This week’s habit is about taking intentional steps to clean up both your physical and digital environments. When your mind and workspace are clear, your business runs smoother—and your ideas have room to grow.

Why it matters:

Mental clutter and digital chaos can drain your energy and lead to overlooked tasks. A fresh workspace and a clean computer desktop help reduce stress, improve focus, and make it easier to stay on top of your priorities. Your clients benefit, and so do you.

Quick Start Guide:

  • Clean Up Your Computer: Sort files, delete duplicates, archive old client folders, and empty that downloads folder.
  • Tidy Your Inbox: Unsubscribe from newsletters you don’t read and file important messages.
  • Organize Cloud Storage: Set up consistent folders in Google Drive, Dropbox, or your tool of choice.
  • Declutter Your Browser: Review and organize bookmarks so you can find what you actually use.

Cami's Tips

  • Schedule Clean-Up Time: I spend the first 15 minutes after lunch tidying my digital space—it adds up fast.
  • Use Unroll.Me: Great for managing email overload. A few clicks can make a big difference.
  • Archive, Don’t Delete: If you have room, move old files out of your active folders and into an archive.
  • Reduce Notifications: Too many alerts clutter your focus. Clean up your digital noise where you can.
  • Keep a Notebook Handy: Write down stray thoughts or to-dos so they don’t crowd your mental space.  Get tasks & thoughts out of your head!

Routine Checkpoint:

Remember, a clear mind and workspace can help you think more creatively and respond to clients with more focus.

Your digital environment should support your business—not overwhelm it. How does your digital space make you feel? Stressed or focused? Take time this week to clean up and create a system that keeps things manageable moving forward.
